Relics from away

Relics from away

Relics from away speaks to my process of re-evaluating, expanding and transforming contemporary issues into manageable and malleable concepts. The piece is composed of two works Aizpute and Riga that together look at today’s sculptural discourse through the lens of the post industrial. My intention with this work is to explore the notion of framing devices as visual entry points into the surrounding landscape.

The two works that comprise relics from away are composed of fabricated Cor-ten steel and cast iron elements. The cast iron works were created in August 2015 at the 12th International Cast Iron Symposium held at the Serde Art Centre in Aizpute Latvia.
